Permanent resident cards are valid for up to five years. If you’re about to or have less than nine months left on your card, then you’ll be able to apply for a new one. You will still be a permanent resident even if your card expires. The PR Card renewal process takes at least 49 days and can be done faster with urgent processing (for an additional fee). A $50 fee needs to be paid when renew your PR Card . To pay the renewal fee, you must submit the payment online and save the confirmation page as proof of payment along with the application. The application must include photos in accordance with photo specifications or it might get rejected.
