President Tinubu's declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, accompanied by the suspension of the duly elected governor and the House of Assembly for six months, is a direct assault on the 1999 Constitution. It is an authoritarian power grab that undermines the fundamental principles of federalism and threatens the very survival of democracy in our country.
